Coronavirus Updates for ACH

We are prepared

OUR CONTINUED FOCUS ON HEALTH AND SAFETY

As the global COVID-19 (novel coronavirus) pandemic evolves, we are consulting with a number of clinical and infectious disease specialists, including the CDC, CMS, and local health authorities.

Our COVID-19 Response Measures

Artesia Christian Home has always prided itself on having top quality infection control and prevention protocols in place for the safety of our residents, employees, families and volunteers. Starting in March 2020, we significantly expanded the program to continue to protect our communities and fight the spread of COVID-19

OUR CLEANING PROTOCOL

  • We use EPA-registered, surface disinfectants and sanitizing products, which demonstrates effectiveness against viruses similar to SARS-CoV-2.
  • Regularly clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces and high-use common areas.
  • Following CDC hand hygiene measures and placing hand sanitizer throughout our programs.

PROTECTIVE MEASURES

  • Secure entrance to the community, limiting visitors to only those medically necessary, including hospice and end of life.
  • Screening protocols for all residents, employees, and essential visitors. Every person who enters our community is screened for temperature, potential symptoms of illness, recent travel history, and possible exposure to the virus.
  • Additional safety protocols for new resident move-ins to help prevent the virus from entering our buildings.
  • Conducting temperature and comprehensive COVID-19 symptom checks on residents at least daily and supporting our independent residents who may want us to complete this assessment on their behalf.
  • All new residents need a Covid-19 test prior to move in.
  • Promoting 6 feet apart social distancing throughout the programs.
  • Facilitating social and emotional connections for our residents by arranging opportunities for virtual visits and phone conversations with families and loved ones.
  • Promoting telehealth visits with physicians and other health professionals.
  • All employees wear surgical masks at all times.
  • Training and retraining all staff to help ensure that community departments are following the standards in our Infection Control and Prevention program, such as frequent hand washing, cleaning of high-touch surfaces, and other recommended hygiene measures. Employees have also been trained on proper donning and doffing of personal protective equipment (PPE) and provided guidance on contact and airborne precautions.
  • Utilizing personal protective equipment (PPE) to support residents and staff, following CDC guidance on PPE preservation to ensure that our PPE levels continue to be sufficient.
  • Providing all employees with masks to wear throughout the community at all times, and supporting residents who are able to wear them while care or support is being provided, as well.
  • All staff wear full PPE, including masks, goggles, gloves, and gowns, while serving any residents experiencing symptoms and/or with a confirmed diagnosis of COVID-19.
