June Outing to New Life Community Church

Sunflowers Always Face the Sun

This month we had the pleasure of going to New Life Community Church. They treated us with a beautiful mini-concert performed by their pre-school kids and it could not have been any sweeter. We ate a delicious chicken enchilada casserole with mixed veggies. The star of the show however, was the sherbet ice cream and a sunflower shortbread cookie! Associate Pastor Ryan Klement gave us an uplifting message with the analogy of the flowers always seeking to face the sun and how we,
in turn, should do the same but we should always seek to face the "SON", Christ.

"Sunflowers always face the sun, They make our days so bright. And as we face the Son of God, We travel in His light. Then joy will fill our lives on earth, Though troubles come our way. He is our refuge, sure and safe, To guide us every day." -Elma Helgason

Every month one of our 15 supporting churches host a fun luncheon for us. As you can imagine, this is one of the many highlights here at the home. We love getting dressed up and ready to spend time with our community church and volunteers. It is so refreshing for us to be able to get out for a while and enjoy a nice meal and devotion amongst old and new friends. This event is possible every month not only because of our wonderful supporting churches and their caring volunteers but also our incredible volunteer drivers. Every month Kristin, our volunteer coordinator, calls our drivers and gets a good count of how many cars will be available to drive our resident's to the next outing, this determines how many residents can actually go to any given outing and so we are always looking for new volunteers. If you are interested in spending an afternoon a month with us, complete the volunteer form below.

All of us here at Artesia Christian Home would like to thank Pastor Klement and everyone at New Life Community Church who volunteered to make this day extra special for us. We are so grateful for you as a church and can't wait for you to have us back next year! Thank you.

Our Sunday gatherings at 9:30 am are intentionally designed for us to come together as a community and wholeheartedly engage God through music, prayer and a relevant message from the Bible. Our service ends by 11am. Visiting a church should be simple and comfortable. You’re balancing a lot and we want to make it as easy as possible to plan your visit with us at New Life!

The moment that you realize that a loved one is no longer able or wanting to live at home is a life-changing moment. Initially, you may feel sad, angry, and relieved all at once. These initial feelings tend to give way to feeling overwhelmed and anxious about the magnitude of the task ahead and the decisions that must be made to help your loved one take the next step.
