Volunteering

Admission Information:

We are committed to providing Christ-like Compassionate Care in all we do. When seniors make application to live here, they are given assessments that determine proper placement. There are specific guidelines that need to be followed for admission to each level of care. At Artesia Christian, home we make every effort to provide the highest quality of life for each resident at all levels. The residents who are entrusted to our care are not typically sick, they are frail and need us to be the hands and feet of Jesus. We are glad you can come alongside and help us in this area of service. The following descriptions of each level may help you determine where you want to serve, but also give you a better understanding of what type of population you are about to serve.

General Description

Artesia Christian Home is a multi-level care facility for the elderly. Residents who live here must be 65 years of age or more. We offer services to the elderly population in three distinct areas; Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Skilled Nursing. The people who we serve in these areas are in need of services for a variety of reasons.

Independent Living

Some seniors are seeking more security and support but are basically independent and want to continue to do their own daily routines of cooking, washing, housekeeping, and social activities. These residents are typically best served in our Independent Cottages. We do provide support in a number of ways for these residents. Please look at the enclosed brochure for more information. They are encouraged to remain independent as long as possible.

Assisted Living

Some seniors need help with their personal needs, do not want to cook for themselves, need help with housekeeping, laundry medications etc. These folks need someone to monitor their medications and overall health condition. They enjoy and need a supportive environment to have a worthwhile and meaningful day. These elderly folks are a part of our Assisted Living. They are encouraged to remain at this level of care as long as possible and as long as it is safe to do so. They need to be able to transfer on their own, and also remain continent of bowel and bladder. If they are likely to wander from the facility, they are not able to remain at this level of care.

Skilled Care

Some residents are in need of total care and support in all areas. These seniors are then placed in a skilled nursing setting where they receive care in all areas of life. They need help with medications, personal care, psychosocial well-being, mobility, dietary planning, activities, and spiritual needs.
